RR. and Bentley Instruments.

Further to our discussion regarding the proposed modified instrument schemes for our chassis, I now send you herewith two blueprints showing our proposals.

In the case of the RR. we suggest two illuminated dials placed so that the steering column can cut the instrument board between them, the right hand dial being the speedometer with the usual trip and total mileage recorder, and the left hand dial being a group comprising the petrol and oil gauges, the ammeter, thermometer, and clock, also the ignition circuit red lamp.

The clock in this case proposed is the electrical one which we at present fit, and this is placed in the centre of the group, the remainder of the dials being so arranged as to record in their normal positions, that is to say, the indicating needles in the average position being vertical.

The switchbox shewn in this scheme is of our present pattern but we should expect to substitute a new type as it should be available at the same time as the modified instruments.

The Bentley scheme is also arranged with two illuminated dials one each side of the steering column, but owing to the necessity for including a tachometer and the impracticability we have since discovered of combining the tachometer and speedometer concentrically the two groups have been built around these two instruments, the left hand one comprises a tachometer, oil gauge, thermometer, and clock, the last named being a spring clock. The right hand group comprises the speedometer, ammeter, petrol gauge, warning light, and the trip and total mileage recorder. The switchbox is intended to be the same as used for the RR.

It will be appreciated that some slight differences will be required in the switchboxes for single and double ignition, but this point can be easily catered for.

These blueprints give, as far as we are able to
