To Lp.{Mr Lappin} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} 4516. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/MJ.11.3.31. TEST RIG FOR CAR RADIATORS. We attach herewith a blue print of the rig we propose to use for testing car radiators. We are trying to find out the cheapest method of obtaining the components of this rig and we should like you to obtain a quotation from the Air Screw Co. of Weybridge for the manufacture of the four bladed propeller shewn on the print. We wish to obtain an air jet through the 5 ft. square fan reducing cowl having velocities up to 85 m.p.h. and we propose to utilise the 30 HP. motor to drive this fan. We should like to know whether the Airscrew Co. have any criticisms to make of the apparatus as arranged and also to know if they consider the 30 HP. motor we propose will be adequate for the job. Naturally this enquiry is only tentative until we have submitted the complete estimate of the parts to the administrations The speed of the motor is 950 R.P.M.
