X4578 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KT. March 17th 1933. Messrs Vickers Aviation Ltd., Weybridge, Surrey. For the attention of Mr.Pierson. Dear Sirs, It will be remembered that in August 1931, the writer paid a visit to your works in order to discuss with you the question of carrying out wind tunnel tests for us on the streamlining of some bodies for our cars. At the time the matter was dropped, but we are now proposing to definitely make some models on the lines proposed, and should like to have an opportunity of finally talking the matter over with you before putting the work in hand. It will be remembered that the Americans have done a certain amount of work on the subject part of which was published in the Automobile Engineer of Nov. 1931 and in this they raise certain points including the desirability of having two models for the reproduction of the effect of the ground. The writer will be at Brooklands on Tuesday next and if convenient would like to call in at your works about 2 p.m. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
