To Sm. from EFC. X3035 EFCl/T23.5.19. RE TYPE-WRITER AND TELEPHONE We are badly in need of a type-writer for the Expl. Dept. D.O. We used to have two, but Mr. Hives decided he would like to have one in his own office, but could not obtain one at the time for the purpose. We agreed to let him have one of ours and therefore have now only one. Our work is frequently held up for want of an additional type-writer and we have had to take work outside to another machine or get someone else to do it for us. I have already mentioned this matter to Mr. Burton and he may possibly have taken it up with you. We also badly require a telephone in this office. We have asked for this once before; the reason given as to why we could not have one was that there was one adjacent in the Drawing Office. This does not now apply as the D.O. is much further away and it has meant that calls for me on the D.O. telephone have necessitated my walking to the instrument quite a distance to answer the call. We have a great deal of work to do in connection with the electrical equip-ment of the chassis, and it is necessary that we should have all the usual conveniences to enable us to work efficiently. As you may know, Mr. Day has now taken over the electrical design and this will necessitate frequent communication with him. I am aware he has no telephone now but understand he will have one shortly. Contd. | ||
