Dear Mr. Newnham, You will no doubt be interested to hear how my 14/60 Dolomite behaved during my tour of France, Germany, Austria and Italy, covering a mileage of 3401. The tour included Vienna and Venice and the mountain passes of Crocci, Pordoi, Falzerago and Mendola in Italy and the Alpine Route from Nice to Annecy over the Col de Vars, Col de Galibur and Col de l'Iseran. Although most of the climbs necessitated the use of second gear for some considerable distance, the water temperature never exceeded 78°. Bottom gear was only used on one occasion and that was when I had to stop on a corner to allow another car to pass. A periodical check of the oil consumption showed no oil was being used at 1707 miles although the oil was up to the high mark and not discoloured, I added a pint. I fully intended draining and refilling but this appeared quite unnecessary. A further pint was added at the bottom of Col de Galibur, and when I returned home the dip stick showed 3/8" above the high mark, which means the oil consumption was almost nil. During the whole tour I had not any occasion to even look in the tool box, and after examining the car there is nothing needing attention. Although I have taken other makes of cars on the Continent the last four years I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed driving any car as I did the TRIUMPH and to say that I enjoyed every one of the 3400 miles after 27 years of motoring on all types of cars, proves that the design, performance and comfort of the Dolomite must have that little difference which must satisfy even the most hardened and critical motorist. Yours very truly, G. {Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} W. Wilkin Managing Director. OFFICIAL TECALEMIT STATION | ||
