We have received complaints from the Test Dept. of the incorrect operation of the electrically operated mechanism for the starter motor, also it appears that this mechanism on chassis 7-CA is not acting quite as it should be. Except in the very early stages, we have been under the impression that this mechanism was working correctly, but it appears that failure to operate correctly of late is rather due to the colder weather casuing the actuator box to be less capable of over-coming the viscosity of the lubricant in the gear box, or at any rate of overcoming it sufficiently quickly to bring the dogs into engagement before the motor has got well away.
