26.G.VI.- 25/30 HP.

Front Engine Mounting.

The parts of the original engine mounting Lec.5057 have arrived, but there are no torque reaction dampers and in view of the wide conversion brackets, the dampers will be very difficult to fit. These conversion brackets are needed because the correct engine bearer brackets from the frame for the engine mounting Lec.5057 were welded to the side members. 26.G.VI. has no engine brackets welded to the side members owing to the raised engine mounting. It will therefore be a rather long job to fit the engine mounting parts received from the Works, as the frame is not drilled for the conversion brackets.

IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} has been running the raised engine mounting with the torque being taken on rubbers against the frame. This overcomes the sideways displacements of the high mounting and except for bolt failures which occur in the temporary attachment of the torque rubbers, appears to be a superior engine mounting to the original Wraith design Lec.5057.

We are therefore intending to make a rather better job for taking the torque and not spend the time fitting up the engine mounting to Lec.5057. The parts for the engine mounting Lec.5057 will be used in case of a complete failure of the high engine mounting.
