GOSHAWK-11 AXLE RATIOS: X4256 At Sales request we have changed the axle ratio on 4-Goshawk-11 car from 14/60 to 13/60. This has been done in order to make the car more suitable for demonstration runs. We suggest that axle ratios on the Goshawk should be treated in the same way as it has been decided to do in the case of the 40/50 H.P. All Goshawk demonstration cars whether open or closed, should be fitted as soon as possible with the low geared axle (13/60). There is no doubt that a much better demonstration performance can be made with a low geared car than can ever be done with the car fitted with the higher gear axle. The disadvantages with the lower geared axle which are - increased fussiness, increased wear and tear, and increased consumption, are not apparent on the short runs usually given on trials cars. We do not consider the difference in maximum speed between the 13/60 and 14/60 axles would be noticeable. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
