c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Elec. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}20/G.16.11.38. 6131 STARTER MAIN SWITCH. Herewith D.CD.1023 being a revision of the Iron Circuit on switch to D.CD.692. The modification increases the pull on the plunger especially in the closed position. In the previous scheme the top end of the plunger enters the yoke too far with a resultant weakening of the iron circuit and consequent tendency of the plunger to return or at least reduce the pull at the end of the stroke. This has been rectified in the new scheme. The plunger return spring is now on the outside of the plunger thus avoiding the necessity to bore out useful iron. We have also adopted the conical ended core thereby reducing the air gap for the same amount of travel. The top contacts have been altered slightly to provide for modification to the plunger etc. More iron has been put into the yoke by the addition of end cheeks. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
