(8) Maximum under-bonnet temperatures & vapour lock.
It should be remembered that if a radiator of unnecessarily great efficiency is fitted, the under bonnet temperature will rise correspondingly and may produce vapour lock. The proximity of this condition can be checked by using a fuel of high volatility, with a final check test when circumstances permit on the Continent.

(9) Fan noise and position.
A check should be made that a new radiator does not alter the condition under which the fan works and thus cause noise.

(10) Drainage from Cold.
It should be ascertained that the bottom tank can be drained in case of frost. Also that the steam valve cannot freeze up.

Experimental Tests.

Brooklands suitability tests.

Endurance.

50 hours Bump.
5000 miles London traffic.
10000 miles Continent, including much mountain work in hot weather.
12 months probation for corrosion.
Try with worst possible water.
