Engine.

Timing gears continue to be quiet and free from rattle.

No difficulty experienced in starting either cold or hot.

The general behaviour of engine is satisfactory.

Misfiring at low speeds under load was traced to a loose contact point in the Delco distributor. The defective part has been returned to the makers, who agree the cause is due to faulty rivetting. They are instituting a test on all distributors for production to ensure the contacts are firmly fixed. We had a similar trouble ourselves some time ago on a P.I.I. distributor on a car in customer's hands.

Gearbox.

Good for silence and absence of slack.

Synchro mesh operation continues satisfactory.

There is no tendency for gears to come out of mesh in use.

Clutch.

Slight judders occasionally, this feature is being investigated on experimental cars.

Brakes.

Continue effective, slight squeaks occasionally from rear brakes.

The servo judder previously reported has been cured by increasing the "set up" of the star springs by .050 this has been instructed for production. The judder could be reproduced at any time by reverting to the original standard star springs.
