to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} & WS. from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/23.6.28. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RE BODIES FOR INDIA 3. ORIGINAL X5830 (crossed out) X5380 We wired you today to send the subframe to Lillie Hall, and also to say that all the holes for the fixing of the runners should be drilled at Derby. Owing to the impossibility of completing a new body on a subframe by the date fixed we have been forced to purchase a Close Coupled Four Seater Semi-Flexible Body from Barkers. This body will be mpunted on body brackets and is being altered to suit the new chassis dimensions. The first chassis should not have the subframe brackets, but a set of standard brackets fixed in positions which we will tell you about by a drawing now in progress. This drawing will also shew the step-irons, and side lever positions. Few new pieces are needed. The body will be ready by the middle of July, when it should be arranged for it to be collected by lorry. We shall let you have the wings and valances as soon as possible before that date as they will have to be fitted and painted by Derby. The subframe will go the Hoopers where we are putting in hand the second body, a Six Seater Sedanca. The Third body, a Close Coupled All-Weather, which is the real body for Mr Royce, will be built at Barkers on the lines adopted for the Sports Open Bodies. So far as we can see we shall only need the one subframe to begin with. We shall try to let Derby have all the information they need to enable them to complete the first car in the next few days.
