Excellent distribution was obtained with the Solex induction system and the hot spot on the bends, although of such small area, proved to be very effective.

Previously when we tested this carburetter on a Phantom 1 car (12-EX) the performance results were surprisingly good and although a fixed choke carburetter, we could snap the throttle open wide from 5 m.p.h. and get away without a falter.

If the twin choke system was adopted in the form of the R.R. expanding 'down draught' carburetter we would say that each choke allowing a free area of 1.05 sq.ins., would look after the power while for the intermediate choke an area of .70 to .75 sq.ins., would look after the snap acceleration.

We are now starting some performance tests on the road comparing the Solex with the Std. chassis carburetter.
