Since the 1st of January 1928 we have had a total of 17 complaints which have had to be attended to free of charge to customers. The total cost of these 17 cases is approximately £282. 8 of these had new gears fitted as a result consequent upon the thrust failing and 9 had new thrusts fitted and gears re-set. Of this total, 10 were India type chassis and 7 Pre-India. With regard to Key Card 'R' which provides for fitting new distance pieces to rear axle thrust, we have had a total in the same period of 10 cars, all of which have been India type chassis. 3 of these have had to have new gears fitted, the other 7, the gears were re-set. The total cost to-date of this item is approximately £119. We are of opinion that this matter is important enough to warrant further investigation. Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/HAW. | ||
