X.4172. RE SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS TO CHASSIS WIRING.

The following are a few suggestions which have been brought forward to Mr. Wyer, and which we think are desirable on the latest wiring scheme. I should be glad if you will give this matter youre careful consideration.

The points have been demonstrated or. discussed with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and we certainly feel that they could be embodied at once to the advantage of the chassis and constructive work generally.

(1) "A better fitting for carrying the fuse carbon in the junction box. as per model herewith."

X.2515.
X.4173.

The present position for the carton we do not consider satisfactory. The clip does not hold it firm, and at the same time we have had cases were the lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the carton has come adrift and the fuses dropped out, causing a direct short.

The scheme suggested by Mr. Wyer above, appears to overcome this trouble. In fixing same on to the fibre block we suggest that a spring washer should be used.

(2) "2 drain holes in the bottom of junction box to prevent water collecting in the bottom of the box".

We have had cases where the cars have come in to us for attention in which water and traces of water have been found in these boxes. We have fixed holes on the sample sent herewith.

(3) "A small 2-wire clip should be fixed with a 5-BA screw to the gear box across member, to hold the actuating box wires in a better position."

The present wires are. too taut, and are. damaged owing to their being in the way when adjustment or attention is given to the clutch or engine coupling etc.
