This report covers the periods 28th July 1934 to 1st April 1935, and 24th November 1935 to 7th September 1936. Running Time. The total running time during these periods is 149 hours. Introduction. This report is intended to cover all the work done on this unit, summarising material already put forward in previous reports, and commenting on the results obtained from the various tests. The work done falls into several well defined categories, as under :- (1) As received from the makers, using Rudge timing. (2) On R.R. modified camshaft, referred to hereafter as modification No. 1 camshaft. (3) Bentley camshaft with C.R. = 7.3 : 1. (4) Bentley camshaft with C.R. = 8 : 1. (5) Temperature and power tests, supercharged, on air-cooled cylinder and semi-hemispherical head. (6) Temperature and power tests, supercharged, on water cooled cylinder and semi-hemispherical head.
