are very susceptible to variation in the carcass stiffness.
You should have no spring controlled movement in the cross steering tube, just a few thousandths of an inch to make sure there is no solid friction. Also the front wheels should be set almost parallel (.125 toe in).
As a last resort try heavy inner tubes; we have had some very promising results with these. Do not try and treat "tramping" separately from "wobble", we are sure that they are inter-connected.
(3) We have a complete damper scheme for this axle. Unfortunately this means new steering levers and drums.
So far it has proved absolutely effective. We have another method of curing brake squeaks; we attach a copy of our report to R.{Sir Henry Royce} on the subject. We really believe it might be worth trying out, especially with duralumin shoes, if only to save scrapping levers and drums. It is not a 100% cure however, with our type of lining.
