RE. WEAR ON 40/50 VALVE GUIDES. X2704

The question of adopting enclosed valves on the present 40/50 HP. was raised at a Conference at Derby on the 14th. April 1924., at which Cj. and yourself were present.

The record of the Conference (CJ9/E15.4.24) is as follows :-

'Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} raised the question as to whether we should make the present chassis as up-to-date as possible by the adoption of the new valve covers which are being to be introduced by Springfield*.

It was thought preferable that Springfield should be asked to send us a chassis fitted with this improvement.'

Before OY. left for Springfield we asked him to let us know as soon as they have completed a set of parts so that we might be able to get hold of these parts more quickly than waiting for a complete chassis.
