To Br/Bk.{A. Birkett - Commercial Manager} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

Bentley Car ex Wilmot Breedon.

With reference to your Br/Bk.{A. Birkett - Commercial Manager}3/H.31.1.41., we should like to query the figure of £12.0.0d, which you quote for Modification C.

In standardisation sheet X.1020 dated 3.8.37, the increased cost of drilling additional holes in the crank-pin, is given as 8d.

The engine will already have been stripped to take up the main bearings and de-carbonised. We understand that the larger oil pump has already been fitted. Therefore, in fairness to the customer, we imagine he should only be charged with the additional holes in the pin.

We propose to leave his big end bearings as they are, but to supply a new set of main bearings with a white metal rear. Will you please give us the cost for this?

We do not understand what you do to the slipper wheel for £3.10.0d.

If you will send the strengthened type half shafts up to Derby, we will have them fitted up here. What is your cost figure for this work?

Will you please confirm that you have a crankshaft which will be available for Bentley ii., so that it will not have to stand while its own is re-ground.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}
