Archer} has tried a gearbox fitted with bearings having reduced clearance, and found them to be definitely better than GW.788 and GW.789. As Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} wants the Schatz bearing to do some mileage before releasing for production, it has been agreed to order bearings similar to/GW.788 and GW.789 with the '0' fit, and these will be used immediately they are available for 'C' series and gearboxes sent in for modification. Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/Dn. is ascertaining from Hoffmanns how soon we can get a supply of the new bearings. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
