Bentley / Mr Barrington} This chassis will shortly be back in the Works minus its body. We want to get it running again on the road as soon as possible, and therefore do not intend to strip for examination any parts which have already run 10,000 miles. We should therefore like a report on the following pieces :- (1) Test for cracks the flexible hose side petrol filler. (2) Test for cracks the headlamp cross-member. (3) Strip the rear axle and let us examine before any of the parts are washed. (4) Examine the front axle control for wear of the thrust washer and journal bushes. Probably several new parts will be required in the front brake operation, which has been damaged through frequent judders. Arc of embrace of brake linings reduced as per prints. (5) Examine the starter motor bush EL.267. (6) On the engine we particularly wish to examine the clutch thrust bearing and the crankshaft pilot bearing, as both these have oilite cages. (7) The whole of the engine will have to be stripped, and we can then examine the exhaust valves etc. (8) Examine petrol tank. (9) Examine brake linings and drums. (10) Examine bumper bar. (11) Radiator matrix examined for silting up or corrosion. On rebuilding the chassis, Unit No. B-4 should be fitted instead of B-20. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
