Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}10/H23.1.31. re. PHANTOM II. AMERICAN CHASSIS & N. SERIES. LOSS OF H.P. With reference to the discussion with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re above. As requested, I give particulars below. Four of the above cars tested so far on Chassis dynamometer. The average H.P. on road wheels is less than the average present standard by the amounts stated:- Eng.Revs. 1750. 2000. 2250. 2500. 2750. 3000. Less BHP. 1. 2 3 3½ 4 5 The chief cause of the loss is the carburetter inlet silencer, aggravated by the gauze becoming dirty or oil lagged. Suggest larger area. On road tests taken there is no appreciable loss in performance. The suction noise is certainly much quieter. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
