SECRET. X7005 To-Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. CWB. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} re 21-EX. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}15/E4.3.29 Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG27.2.29 I am sorry to see that you are still not happy about engine feet, which means of course jellying or frame joggle and steering, and I am also sorry to see that you are still not happy about exhaust booming. As these were three of the main troubles arising out of the first 10,000 miles' test and which early in January last it was thought would easily be overcome. We are also rather concerned to see the formidable list of modified parts which are fitted to this car, and I presume you will be carefully watching this from the point of view of our not going into production with items that have not been thoroughly tested. I propose to put this Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} memo. on the agenda for the Derby conference on the 8th, and should be glad if you will go into the matter in advance from the point of view mentioned above.
