ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

STARTER MOTOR
Armature LOP.D.100364.
Commutator LOP.D.100363.
Frame & Field Winding LOP.D.100274.
BEARING BRACKETS LOP.D.100319.

The starter motor gave no trouble throughout the mileage. It turned the engine with sufficient speed to start on mornings with air temperatures at zero. It was seldom that two attempts had to be made for the motor to engage.

DYNAMO

Voltage Regulator to "D" Scheme 546.
Armature LOP.D.53770.
Armature wound with 16 SWG.Copper Wire.
Commutator LOP.D.53235.
Frame & Field Winding LOP.D.53809.
Bearing Brackets LOP.D.53780.

There was one failure of the dynamo to charge through the cutout points sticking, no other faults occurred. The dynamo output was sufficient to keep the battery charged, approx. half the mileage was run with all lamps in use. The brush cover was not removed and the examination was left to Wst at Derby. The output of the dynamo could not be taken owing to the vibration of the ampere needle.

PETROL GAUGE

The gauge read approx. correct throughout the mileage. No trouble was experienced.

LUCAS HEAD LAMPS.

The Lucas dipping head lamps having to be half turned for Continental conditions were a source of trouble for a period owing to the close proximity of the mechanism to the case. This caused the wires to short circuit. An insulation pad was fitted between the case and mechanism to prevent the short circuiting.
