PROPOSED STANDARDIZATION OF CHASSIS PARTS Proposal Sheet No.75 Alteration No. 6120/A 6129/A Date July 19th, 1926 To Mr. Belnap The following is proposed: PIECE NOS. Fuller, DATE: 7/24/26 NAME: Mr. Royce NAME: Mr. Johnson DESCRIPTION of Alteration: It is proposed at 1701 (approx.) to adopt a piloted jet needle as shown in prints A-8409 nozzle and A-8410; herewith. The needle has no spring but, after setting, is locked with a lock nut. PURPOSE of Alteration: Improved centralizing of needle. To avoid change in setting through tampering. We find more accurate regulation and improved spraying. We find that centralization of existing needle is not accurate enough for good regulation, as it will tilt in the threads and alter the flow. Unless a locknut is used tampering is common. We find no necessity for different setting summer and winter. We propose to put this alteration into regular manufacture on August 31, 1926 unless we hear from Mr. Johnson and Mr. Royce to the contrary. Tested: 6 mos. on 3 cars. Also on dynamometer. Estimated cost: Change inconsiderable. Proposed Chassis at which alteration should start: 1701 Cost of parts scrapped, if any: None. Increase in weight, if any: Inconsiderable. | ||
