Replying to the above memo, no leak has been experienced from the thermometer union fitted to 22.G.V. Both unions have been dismantled on several occasions when removing cylinder heads. We find it is most important that the thermometer be carefully lined up and not strained over sideways by the pipe. Once the union has begun to leak, no amount of careful lining up will cure it and we therefore agree that it is advisable to replace the sleeves whenever the thermometer is removed. ---------------- GWH{George W.
