To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1339. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce}13/B.26.8.38. TYRE PRICES - Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/R.24.8.38. Mr. Shankland of The Dunlop Rubber Co. is well aware of the fact that his competitors, i.e. firms other than The India Co., are making a bold bid to secure a portion of our Tyre business and is visiting me on Monday afternoon next to submit his final proposals. Obviously it would weaken my hand considerably in such negotiations if Mr. Shankland knew that our Administration have agreed the use of India Tyres (made by a firm with whom he is so closely associated) on Bentley chassis for the ensuing season.
