BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 5080 E1/M29.11.28. INDIA 4. CONTROLS. X.5240 X.5080 The scheme on which we are working out the above is as shown on sketch : EXISTING LAYSHAFT THROTTLE LAYSHAFT WITH FLOATING PICK UP LEVERS CONNECTED TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND STEERING COLUMN CONTROL. The throttle control has the merit of being much more simple than present 20 HP. scheme, as we have replaced 3 layshafts with one only. For the purpose of connecting up the magneto we have been compelled to introduce a bell crank to connect our control rod with the existing layshaft across the rear of the engine. Provision will have to be made for carrying the magneto H.T. wire and now also for a pipe to carry away exhaust gas from the induction pipe jacket. There appears to have been some misunderstanding between Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and your Dept. over this matter, over our handing over the unfinished scheme of carb. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} He informed us that the controls had been completed in Derby. It was on this account that we wrote to BY/CGH.{W Clough} for blueprints of the controls. However we will let you have our schemes as soon as possible. We do not expect to complete the job this week, but we will send you an advance print of any information that is likely to be useful. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
