For the attention of Mr. G.J.Rackham. Dear Sirs, In the absence of Mr. Robotham we give herewith a reply to your letter of the 27th. in respect of salt filled valves. The position regarding the patent rights on these valves is as follows. Wilcox-Rich of Detroit are the patentees of the valves under the patent numbers 224288 and 375121 and in this country the "Bristol" Co. are the licensees for Wilcox-Rich, and we, Rolls-Royce Ltd., are sub-licensees to "Bristols". We understand that Wilcox-Rich are at present applying for an extension of the term of patent 224288 which shortly runs out.
