E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} c. to Ey. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}3/MA.23. 3. 32. 20/25 TANK ENGINE. We have carried out further tests on the heat to the oil on this engine. We measured the rate of rise of the water in the oil cooler. With about 2 gallons in circulation the oil temperature ceased to rise when a figure of 87oC had been reached. The heat to the oil was 64 lbs oC per minute or 115 BTU/min, at this temperature. We also measured the mechanical efficiency with oil temperatures of 60 and 100oC and found it to be the same in both cases. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
