RE. CHASSIS NO. 29-CL. CWB7/MG8.6.28.

As this is an open touring car we recommend it is fitted with Continental type road springs. The standard wing clearance will be satisfactory with this springing.

Actually, as the car will be re-built as a F.2.B. series, it will be 1/2" lower all round. The fitting of Continental springing will additionally lower the rear a further 1/2" approximately.

With reference to hydraulic shock absorbers.

We do not think that you could possibly alter the loadings on these successfully, because in order to adjust the low pressure load, the whole shock absorber has to be dismantled. In addition it is almost impossible to get the front dampers out now they are fitted up for front axle control.

If the shock absorbers are opened up on the road, there is a great danger of dirt getting into the system and putting them out of action completely.

The whole question of shock absorbing is receiving careful attention at the moment and we hope soon to be in a position to make recommendations.

With reference to side steering tube springs.

The only springs we have designed to fit in this tube, apart from the standard 1500 lbs/1", are the 2000 lbs/1" which we use on the Continental chassis. We could give you a set of these to try.
