We should like to be able to give a satisfactory answer to a customer thinking of buying a Phantom III who asks for a specially high geared back axle.

The overdrive gearbox would not be available soon enough, as my impression is he wants the chassis about the end of this year.

He is quite knowledgeable where motor cars are concerned, and at present owns a very good Phantom II which he thinks the world of and also a 4¼ litre Bentley.

He wants the car to have a very high performance, hence his request, and to help it he is proposing to have an extremely light body.

Would you please let me know whether it would be possible to give him what he wants. My feeling is that unless we can meet him on this point he probably won't be interested. He knows the present P.III. performance.

I told him I would make enquiries of you and get in touch with him.
