Attention of Mr. Spicer.

Dear Mr. Spicer,

I have this morning come up against a problem which is unusual:-

With the door lock that we are using at present, it is possible for a door to be almost closed with the outside handle in the DOWN position and, if the inside handle is pushed into the LOCKED position, the bolt is held back and the door is free to open.

This has actually happened on one of our cars, with the result that the side of the body was badly damaged.

It may seem to you impossible for a set of circumstances to happen together and give this result. The ideal condition for this to happen is for the outside door handle to be a very loose fit, the door to bind slightly in the opening and not be pushed in far enough for the bolt to shoot past the striking plate, and somebody inside the car to push the handle into the LOCKED position.

I hope that I have made this clear to you; my reason for writing is that I shall be glad if you will see that this sort of thing cannot happen with the locks which you have in hand for us, for Myth.

Yours sincerely,
