Headlamps.

The N.S. headlamp has given considerable trouble. The earth wire has broken off the dipping unit. It is not supported and vibrates. The earthing of the bulb by a plunger in the spider support burnt the contact away, the plunger not being robust enough to maintain the connection. The wire inside the tube broke away and is a difficult wire to replace as no provision is made for renewals.

The headlamp pillars have given no trouble and ride steadily.

Windscreen Wiper Motor.

As reported at 3000 miles the fixing of this unit is not satisfactory. It has broken off several times during the latter mileage.

The wiper unit fitted under the panelling at the bottom of the windscreen failed through a screw working loose and jamming in the teeth of the mechanism.

BODYWORK.

The bodywork has remained generally in a good condition. The weaknesses shown up have been, the loss of the friction drive to the ventilating windows at the front, a slight rattle from the front N.S. door. The front wings have cracked, the nearside at the outside edge where attached to the running board, and brim of the spare-wheel well to outer edge of wing, also at the side on the front bend. The offside wing cracked on the brim of the spare-wheel across to the outer edge of the wing, rear end.

REAR NUMBER PLATE ILLUMINATED UNIT.

The fitting of the bulb holder in this unit was the worst fitting I have ever come across. It consisted of a half filed down ordinary bulb holder and relied on being held in position by its fit in a bit of tube half soldered on to the rear of the number plate back plate, a screw preventing it from dropping out. The earthing was poor. We had to fit a collar on to make an earth, and hold it in position. The red light is not large enough to be readily seen at a distance. The screws holding the number plate in position were too long and were forcing the back plate off. Park Wards should be informed of this poor class of work.
