To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to EFC. X4247 R3/M1.12.22. RE. HALF TIME GEARS. X.4247. X.4237. We are sending an arrgt. so that the fan can be driven from the dynamo drive on the Goshawk. We cannot say at the moment whether this will prove to be an advantage or otherwise because the crankshaft may miss the damping effect of the fan belt directly upon it, and also the half time gears may not be benefited sufficiently to justify the trouble of making the change. This matter is urgent as it affects our practice with the Seagull engine. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
