For the attention of Mr. Spicer.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your memo ref. No: HJS/EMA.12.11.41., and have considered the comments mentioned therein.

1. We shall be interested to see the result of your design to prevent the bumper from coming adrift if the over-rider gets loose.

2. We appreciate that a rib running down the centre of the springs gives a better section modulus, also it should not affect the total weight of the bumper much. However if the Toledo Woodhead section cannot be obtained try the section shown.

3. The attachment of bumpers to the frame. We attach herewith prints of the following schemes :-

PL.988. Modification to Rear Bumper Brackets.
PL.989. Modification to Front Bumper Brackets.

The above designs shew a method of fixing the bumpers to the frame brackets by means of a clamp, which does not look unsightly or add much weight to the job. We suggest you should try this design.

In case we have not mentioned it before we should like 2 sets of bumpers for both front and rear, and two sets of steering wheels to PL.959.

Yours faithfully,

For and on behalf of Rolls-Royce Ltd.
