4¼ Litre Bentley.
Slow Running Adjustment.

With reference to your memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}5/MH.{M. Huckerby} 4.3.39. The service department at K.{Mr Kilner} are satisfied that one stop is sufficient and one pull off spring as arrangement now fitted, providing the tension of the spring is right in the closed position.

They still get trouble of sticking due to the springs stretching and taking up a permanent set approx ¼" longer than called for.

Our throttle springs have seldom been right in this respect.

A short while ago I sent samples to the Works of springs which had stretched and received half a dozen springs made at the Works, which were fitted to cars which have not been seen since, so it is evident that they were satisfactory.

You want to make sure that the throttle springs you are trying out are right in this respect as the Depots receive springs varying in length as much as a ¼". Will By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please note this, as still being unsatisfactory.
