X.7600 X.7400 We send herewith N.sch.2799 shewing following treatments for dealing with the spare wheels and luggage on SS.{S. Smith} (1) This is suitable for short bodies of the sporting type or for a max. body when no luggage accommodation is called for. One spare wheel only can be catered for when ordered. (2) This scheme is possible where only one spare wheel is desired. The single side carrier gives an unbalanced appearance to the front of the car, which is criticised. Also a rear trunk case is impossible. (3) This is technically bad, but popular among coachbuilders. It enables one to make a nice job of the rear trunk case. (4) This is the same as (3) but a grid replaces the trunk case. It will be noticed that the rear wheel carriers of (1) and (3) are almost identical, and also the grids of (2) and (4). It would appear possible for us to have all of these combinations to offer the customer, so that we can always supply something that will suit the body ordered, and where-ever possible get one or more wheels at the rear. The rear wheel carriers have been done by WW. Will Derby set out a side carrier as at present standard, but with the wheel in the position here shewn. The wheel can be dropped to the low position indicated now that a large trough is not detrimental, since it will be always occupied. We shall send you a scheme for the grids in a short while. Will you please send Sales (Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}) three prints of N.sch.2799 and ourselves two. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
