X. 2677 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} R1/M24.2.28. A.C. PETROL PUMP. X.2677 I understand this is the American pump with canvas diaphragm is not permanent enough. Probably falling off in delivery at high speed is due to long suction pipe, and perhaps no air vessel on suction. If such a pump was thoroughly reliable it would be good for fitting to Phantom at once. You will remember, that I suggest a reducing gear, say 5/1, off camshaft, max. speed about 300., with pull rod or rotary shaft to tank, so that no gland would be needed, and submerged plunger pump could be used.
