For the attention of Mr.Bogg.

Dear Sirs,

We have now carried out a considerable number of tests with the new pair of dampers fitted with our standard damper valve.

We find that unless we give a large leak for the oil back to the reservoir loss of load occurs. With the leak that is necessary to overcome the loss of load the replenishing valves appear to be too small.

The trouble is due to the slightly uneven piston displacement, which is very serious with a valve whose operation is affected by a difference in pressure compared to the reservior. Under the circumstances we think it will be wiser to concentrate on your type of spring loaded valve, but would like to have some type of control for it. At the moment the fluid operation is in greater demand, but hope that we shall eventually require rod operation.

I should be interested to hear if you have any arrangements for operating the spring loaded valves.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
