RE PISTONS ON CHASSES ALREADY DELIVERED INCLUDING TRIALS CARS.

Mr. Johnson telephoned this afternoon that he had decided that all chasses already delivered including the trials cars shall be fitted immediately with split pistons. He considers this course a right one because the number of cars involved is small, and can be dealt with without considerable difficulty in the event of split pistons being unreliable or faulty in any respect on the tests now proceeding. Mr. Royce's telegram of this morning, given in my BnS/W311019, indicates his agreement to some such course as this.
