Dear Sirs,

In reply to your favour of the 5th inst., and Mr. West's conversation with the writer on the subject of endeavours to reduce the diameter of the present 5" Bentley instruments, we will, as requested, submit as soon as possible an experimental Rev-Clock of the smallest diameter possible; this we anticipate will not be less than 4 1/2", but we will, of course, take all possible steps to make it smaller, if we can.
