TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BY [struck through] ORIGINAL E3/M24.11.23. re. PETROL TANK SUSPENSION. Y32451 Referring to the standardisation sheet you have issued for signature for the petrol tank sus-pension please note Mr. Royce strongly recommends that this should be carried out as described in his comments on the American modifications. These comments indi-cate that the petrol tank stays should not be gripped by the securing nut because of the movement which un-doubtedly takes place when the frame twists, but the securing nut clamps a washer up against a face and the washer holds the petrol tank stays in position, leaving them a freedom of a few thousands of an inch.
