Steering. July 22/27.

Dear Rin
I have your letter of yesterday, for which many thanks.
Regarding tests on steering, I have not tried the Iso Vis yet, but there is no doubt whatever in my own mind that there is no difference between Springfield and Derby steerings of the same type except the width of tread and possibly some difference in oil.
When hot & with front tyres at 30lbs which is essential for good riding, I find both 8 E.X. & 12 E.X. as difficult to park in the American fashion as anything I have handled; and this even with tyres 1" narrower in the tread than our own.
This is particularly noticeable down here where the roads are too narrow for a 40/50 & constant shunting is essential.
12 E.X. this afternoon with new type Dunlops in front & a dirt road surface, rather dusty, absolutely refused to lock over except when rolling & was correspondingly difficult to turn in the road.
