20/25 CHASSIS - CENTRE LAMPS.

BY/Cgh{W Clough}6/G5-11-31. R's new car will have a body on the lines of the Continental Touring Saloon and will, of course, present a sporting appearance.

Because of this we thought the usual headlights which can have electrical dippers would look insignificant and out of place.

Consequently, we decided to fit P80 headlamps. But, unfortunately, these cannot have electrical dippers, so that for anti-dazzle purposes it became desirable to fit a centre lamp.

But the demand for centre lamps on 20/25 cars is negligible, so it is not worth your while spending very much time in getting out a special scheme.

We hoped that it would not be an expensive matter to provide a bracket which would be clipped on to the front cross member and which would carry the centre lamp. We also hoped it would not be a difficult matter to arrange the wiring suitably.

In the one or two instances in the past where we have been asked to arrange for a 20/25 car to be equipped with a centre lamp, we have asked the coachbuilder concerned to make up a bracket for which we have had to pay about 25/- net, whilst for the wiring we have paid 35/-.

If it would cost you much more than this to arrange to fit a centre lamp to R's new car, then we think we had better abandon the idea of P80 lamps and a centre lamp and instead supply R170 headlamps with electrically operated dipping reflectors.

Please let us hear from you quickly so that we may take whatever action may be necessary concerning the supply of the lamps.
