GOSHAWK 11. ELECTRIC STARTER SWITCH.

Regarding the model of the above recently sent to WW., tests were made to find the effort required to disengage the switch. This proved to be 14 to 15 lbs with the switch unlubricated, and 11 lbs with the switch lubricated. Mr. Royce thinks this is too big a proportion of the spring load of 22 lbs to ensure disengagement, and wishes you to try spring fingers for the switch brushes of lighter gauge so as to considerably reduce the disengaging effort. He thinks that if we adopt these lighter gauge brushes possibly reducing the disengaging effort to a half of the present amount it may not be necessary to make the switch operating mechanism double acting.
