To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X7310 Ha/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}16/KW.6.7.34. 28-EX. Gearbox. On examining the parts of this gearbox it is evident that the end load required to slide the second gear sliding piece is much greater than the top and third pieces. We should like it re-erected so that the load to push the plungers out of the groove towards second gear is the same as for top and third. We think when you have arranged this that the friction of the plungers on the plainer part of the bore will be considerably more in the second gear than in top or third. We shall be glad if you can find out why this is and if possible correct it. Hdy{William Hardy}: is instructing bronze spherical bushes for the bearings of the lower second speed slider.
