To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to GJ. X4264 X RE "GOSHAWK II" STEERING JOINTS. We have been examining the steering joints for the "Goshawk". We should be glad to know whether you consider those fitted to the first chassis are entirely satisfactory as arranged with the single split. Do you also consider that the joints on the longitudinal tube are also satisfactory ? You will remember that I pointed out that I thought the ball bearings on the steering column were fitted with too small balls. I am very anxious to see the effect of the stiffer dashboard as regards supporting the steering column and whether it can be considered satisfactory without alteration.
