1929.
Oct. 23. Wrote to Derby asking if Mr. Royce could see me regarding lubricating oil.
Nov. 6. Mr. Royce acknowledged our letter, saying he would go further into the matter and write us again.
8. Wrote to Mr. Royce acknowledging his letter.
9. Mr. Royce wrote saying he had carefully considered the matter but could not do anything.
13. We wrote to Derby asking if they would re-consider their decision and give me an interview.
Nov.23. Mr. L. Johnson (London) wrote having provisionally arranged an interview for me on November 29th.
25. Wrote to Mr. Johnson, thanking him.
25. Wrote to Mr. Royce suggesting time, etc., of appointment.
26. Mr. Royce wrote confirming the appointment.
29. Interview with Mr. Royce at Derby. He agreed to examine a sample of the oil.
Dec. 2. Wrote to Mr. Royce, thanking him for my interview and confirming our discussion.
5. Five-gallon drum of lubricating oil sent to Derby for test.

1930.
Mar.12. Wrote to Derby asking whether they had been able to examine sample drum of oil.
Mar.21. Mr. Royce wrote saying that owing to pressure of work they had not carried out an engine test but had examined the oil in the Laboratory.
24. Wrote to Derby acknowledging their letter and expressing the hope that they would soon be able to carry out the engine test.
Sep.25. Wrote to Derby asking whether they had yet been able to test the oil; also called attention to the fact that we were contractors to the Air Ministry for Special Aviation Fuel, with our own A.I.D. inspectorate and hoped that we might be given an opportunity of supplying them with this fuel.
Oct.21. Wrote to Derby saying we could not trace any reply to our letter of 25/9/30 and enclosed a copy.
Nov.14. Wrote to Derby offering new contract terms for supply of motor spirit.
17. Derby acknowledged our letter of 14/11/30 saying they hoped shortly to pass us some orders.
19. Interview in London with Mr. Cowen.
19. Wrote to Derby, thanking them for their promise.
19. Mr. Cowen wrote, subsequent to my interview with him, explaining R.R's difficulties in changing their source of supplies.
21. Thanked Mr. Cowen for his letter and asked for a further interview.
22. Wrote to Derby offering spot terms for supplies of motor spirit, alternative to contract terms previously offered.
24. Mr. Cowen wrote agreeing to see me again.
25. We received an order for 500 gallons No.1. from Derby and wrote to Mr. Royce to thank him.
26. Mr. Royce acknowledged our letter of 25/11/30.
26. We supplied 500 gallons No.1. motor spirit to Derby.
28. I had an interview with Mr. Cowen who promised to put me in touch with Mr. Hives, the head of their experimental
