given below, which shew that increasing the volume of the air bottle eliminates the trouble.

Compressor. Lockheed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Pump | Pump Pressure lbs/sq.in. |
| Speed |----------------------------------------------------------|
| R.P.M. | Standard | Std.+ V1. | Standard. | Std.+ V1 |
| | Air | Air | Air | Air |
| | Bottle | Bottle | Bottle | Bottle |
|-----------|--------------|--------------|--------------|--------------|
| 128 | 3½ | 3½ | 2½ to 3 | |
| 256 | 10 to 10½ | 10½ | 9½ to 11 | 9½ to 10 |
| 342 | 17 to 18 | 18 | 16 to 19 | 16 to 17 |
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additional air bottle capacity V1 = 2.89 c.ins.
Standard capacity = 15 ccs. = .916 c.ins.

From these figures we do not think that we shall need the modification to N. Sch. 3592.

We next investigated the lag between the governor pressure and the pressure built up in the controlling element in the shock absorber (not the ball pin load). We found that the lag was very considerably increased with thick oil.

Relative pressures using Motorine C. & ¼" dia. 12 ft pipe line.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| Road | Damper | Pump | Release | Time of Press. |
| Speed | Press. | Press. | Press. | Rise. Secs. |
| M.P.H. | | lbs/sq.in | | Pump to damper |
| | | | | From O to Press. |
| | | | | in Col.2. |
|----------|-----------|------------|-------------|---------------------------------------|
| 30 | 7½ | 8 | 6 | 33 |
| 60 | 15 | 16 | 11 | 30 |
| 80 | 22 | 23 | 18 | 26 |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Time required to pump Motorine C. through 12 ft. pipe line - dry - at 200 r.p.m. = 1½ mins.

The figures for the compressor oil with ¼" pipes are not as good as we should like.
